You were amazing!

The rain came, the temperature dropped, but it didn’t stop lots of you from braving the inclement weather to be part of Telford Big Sleep Out 2019.

With over 150 people registered to take part, we were overwhelmed with the amazing participation and support shown by you, our amazing followers.

It got busy…

Thanks to our friends at ASDA Donnington Wood, the venue was reserved and ready to provide a safe space for the many sleep out folk to build their shelter for the night.

It had a little added sparkle thanks to the “Best Cardboard Palace” competition, open to individuals and groups. You certainly didn’t let us down in this department! There were some fun, clever and thought provoking designs to grace the car park on the n night. Well done to everyone who went to great lengths to show off your building talent.

Just a few of the fantastic builds are displayed below.

The footprints of many were trodden into tarmac

TBSO 2019 wasn’t just about sleeping in a box for the night, it was important to make a statement out on the streets that would grab the attention of those passing by.

Thanks to a hardy bunch of folk who didn’t let the rain put them off, “Carry the load” saw a number of our supporters walk from Hadley Centre to ASDA Donnington Wood carrying items of bedding, symbolising the struggle many face every night of where it’s safe to bed down and sleep.

For those who were part of “Carry the load”, walking just over three miles in the pouring rain, only to spend the rest of the night outside under a cardboard shelter, deserves plenty of recognition from us all.

Thank you to each and every one of you who took part.

The stage was set…

We wanted to offer something new for everyone taking part in the sleep out, so we threw in a free music festival.

Although it got off to a late start, over three hours of live music greeted our participants arriving for their night out, made possible thanks to the generosity of local artists and groups who willingly gave up their time in support of Telford’s homeless charities.

We want to say a huge thank you to…

Blu Iris
Loose Lips
The Riaders
Liv Benton
Tokyo Storm

Further thanks goes to Astro Entertainment, Shropshire Haulage, Greenhouse Vauxhall of Shrewsbury and ASDA Donnington Wood, without whom we would not have had the equipment or space to put on the musical extravaganza.

And the end result…

Thanks to the may people who took part, all the generous donations received both on the night and through sponsorship of those brave enough to stay out, you helped us raise over….

Wow, what can we say?

Your support directly helped Maninplace and Stay-Telford provide valuable and much needed emergency support and accommodation during the winter months. We offered round the clock assistant for anyone who needed access to safe and secure shelter from the cold, warm and clean clothing, food, drink and most importantly, a friendly welcome.

The support you have given through TBSO 2019 has made a difference to vulnerable people in your community.
